A taste for adventure

The Laguna Beach community will reunite for the 15th year to raise money for some of the town’s local nonprofit organizations.

The annual Taste for Charity event, hosted by the Laguna Board of Realtors and Affiliates Charitable Assistance Fund, will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Tivoli Too, 650 Laguna Canyon Road.

The public event will feature a silent and live art auction from pieces donated by local artists and galleries, an array of cultural cuisine including Thai, Italian and Japanese from 12 of Laguna’s fine restaurants and a wine tasting from Four Vines Winery.

All proceeds will benefit the needs of organizations including First Thursday’s Art Walk, The Woman’s Club and Community Service Programs Youth Shelter, said Stephanie Lennon, executive vice president of the Laguna Board of Realtors.

“Some of the things the proceeds will benefit are new equipment for the Community Clinic, transportation to and from galleries for the Art Walk and a remodel and upkeep of the Woman’s Club,” she said.

The art includes a variety of media including original oil paintings, ceramics and glass from artists like Jacobus Baas, Agnes Copeland and Shane Townley.

“We hope to [surpass] the $38,000 we raised at last year’s event,” Lennon said. “In the past, we were able to give $10,000 to help remodel the Laguna Beach Library, install a new $7,000 roof on the Community Clinic and [give] $10,000 to Sally’s Fund, which provides transportation to seniors here in town.”
