Pentagon Papers films shown June 12

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will screen two films concerning the Pentagon Papers on June 12.

“The Most Dangerous Man In America: Daniel Ellsberg and the Pentagon Papers,” will be shown at 7 p.m. The 2010 Academy Award-nominated film tells the story of the release and publication of the Pentagon Papers in 1971. This film is important to the church because of the role that Unitarian Universalism played in allowing the Pentagon Papers to be released.

“The Pentagon Papers Then and Now: Unitarian Universalists Confronting Government Secrecy” will be shown at 2 p.m. at the church, 429 Cypress Drive.

Charity regulations workshop set

The Laguna Beach Community Foundation is sponsoring a free workshop on the Charitable 3 R’s — Regulations, Reports and Rules from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Community Center, 380 Third St. All 501 (c)(3) exempt organizations and other interested exempt organizations are welcome.

The panel includes certified public accountants Robert Gamez, foundation trustee and treasurer, and Ted Alvarez. Prosser to receive Harvey Milk Award

Laguna Beach resident Audrey Prosser will receive the Harvey Milk Award at the Clinton Awards hosted by the Orange County Young Democrats from noon to 2 p.m. June 12 at Irvine’s Four Season Banquet Hall.

Prosser is president of the Laguna Beach Democratic Club and an activist in gay and lesbian issues. Assembly speaker John Perez will give the keynote address at the event, which will also honor Clinton Award recipient Sen. Lou Correa and Dolores C. Huerta Labor Award recipient Tefere Gebre.

Mortuary honors James Pribram

James Pribram, surfing columnist for the Coastline Pilot, has been awarded the Orange County Heart & Soul Award for May by O’Connor Mortuary of Laguna Hills.

Pribram was honored for his dedication to improving water quality and protecting endangered reefs and wildlife along Orange County’s coastlines.

The award program is designed to recognize an Orange County citizen each month for their passion and dedication to making a difference.
