Man pronounced dead after 25 minutes of CPR
An Altadena man died today before diving in Shaw’s Cove, according to authorities.
Emergency crews responded to a diver in distress call about 12:50 p.m. Lifeguards pulled the 43-year-old man from the water and started emergency first aid procedures, according to a release from the Laguna Beach Police Department.
“Lifeguards performed 25 minutes of CPR,” Sgt. Louise Callus said.
The cause of death is unknown. The Orange County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and took command of the investigation.
The man was with a dive buddy. Notification to next of kin has yet to be made.
