Four injured in possible DUI crash, police say
COSTA MESA — Police now believe the man whose car plowed through a bus bench and across four lanes of traffic Friday night may have driving under the influence.
Four people were hurt when the driver of a Dodge Caravan jumped over a curb while trying to leave a Rite Aid parking lot at the corner of 17th Street and Orange Avenue around 8 p.m.
The driver, who has not been identified, then knocked down a bus bench and sped across four lanes of traffic before colliding into a pickup truck in a parking lot of a 7-Eleven store, according to police.
Three people in the pickup suffered minor injuries, including a leg injury and back pains, and were taken to a local hospital.
The driver of the car also sustained unspecified injuries.
Police said the driver of the Dodge Caravan was arrested for driving under the influence and has been released.
