Booster Jim Scott dies
Jim Scott, a big-time Costa Mesa schools booster who led projects that included a new football stadium at Estancia High, died on Saturday because of heart failure, his son Jim Scott Jr. said Thursday.
Jim Scott Sr. was 85.
He was known for his tenacity and persistence in getting facilities constructed at Estancia and Costa Mesa High Schools. The football stadium at Estancia is named after him.
A memorial service was held for him Wednesday in Corona del Mar. A service for the community is being planned. No time or date has been set, the son said.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family is asking to send in as a donation to the Costa Mesa Community Athletic Foundation: 1700 Adams Avenue, Suite No. 200, Costa Mesa, CA 92626.
