Vanguard president wins business award

COSTA MESA — Vanguard University’s president was honored Wednesday as one of the county’s top women in business.

The Orange County Business Journal recognized Vanguard President Carol Taylor with the 2011 Women in Business Award at the organization’s luncheon and awards program at the Hyatt Regency in Irvine.

Taylor was one of five winners out of more than 160 nominees at the 17th annual ceremony.

Taylor became Vanguard’s ninth president in October, after serving as the private university’s provost/vice president of academic affairs since August 2007.

She has a doctorate in multilingual/multicultural education from Florida State University, a master’s in cross-cultural communication from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary and a bachelor’s in elementary education from Evangel University.
