Robbery suspect at-large after police pursuit from Newport to Fullerton
Newport Beach police arrested two suspects while a third remained at-large after a local man reported being attacked and robbed early Tuesday morning.
A man with facial injuries called police about 2:50 a.m. to report that his wallet and money were stolen at 30th Street and West Balboa Boulevard.
The victim told police that three suspects fled the scene in a brown sedan, Newport Beach Sgt. Steve Burdette said.
Police identified a car that matched the description traveling north on Newport Boulevard and a pursuit ensued, Burdette said.
The chase went from the Costa Mesa (55) Freeway to the Santa Ana (5) Freeway, where California Highway Patrol officers took over.
The suspects exited in Fullerton, stopping at 2300 Iris Court.
The driver fled and remains at-large. Police arrested the two other suspects, a female juvenile and a male adult.
The victim was treated for bodily injuries at Hoag Hospital, but was later released.
Anyone with information on the third suspect should call the Newport Beach detectives’ division at (949)-644-3790.
