Two men rescued in separate incidents
Newport Beach firefighters made two rescues over the weekend, including a rescue of a person who was injured on a rocky part of the coast, according to officials.
At 1:48 p.m. Sunday firefighters received a call of an injured cyclist near El Moro Canyon, a popular cycling location in Crystal Cove State Park, said Fire Department spokeswoman Jennifer Schulz.
Firefighters took the man to Mission Hospital Laguna Beach for treatment, although his condition was not released.
At 2:24 p.m., firefighters and lifeguards responded to a call of a person down on a mile-long stretch of coast between Rocky Point and Ladder Rock, a rocky area near cliffs that is difficult to access.
Firefighters and lifeguards responded and treated the man at the scene, but he declined to be taken to a hospital, Schulz said. The two agencies were on scene for about 40 minutes, Schulz said.
