Jersey Mike’s opening helps local high schools
COSTA MESA — All is fair in love and (submarine) war.
Popular East Coast submarine sandwich franchise Jersey Mike’s plans to open Wednesday at 2300 Harbor Blvd. in a plaza already occupied by Subway and Albertsons, which both feature made-to-order subs.
To kick off the business, diners can exchange a special coupon though Sunday to get a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to support Newport Harbor, Estancia, Corona del Mar and Costa Mesa high schools.
More than 14,000 coupons have been distributed to the schools and surrounding businesses.
“The opening of our Costa Mesa location not only creates a delicious dining opportunity for the community, but it also directly supports the local high schools,” franchisee Alvaro Garcia said in an email to the Daily Pilot. “Practicing the core Jersey Mike’s value of community support highlights my family’s personal mantra, which we have adopted as part of our business model — the more you give the more you receive.”
This is the third location opened by franchisees Alvaro and Blanca Garcia in the last four months. Others had been in Rancho Cucamonga and Fountain Valley.
The new, 1,445-square-foot eatery will feature a similar layout and menu to the franchisee’s other locations. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
