Planning seat open; applications due Monday

The Newport Beach City Council plans to appoint someone to fill the remainder of Planning Commission Chairman Charles Unsworth’s term, which expires on June 30, 2012.

Unsworth resigned earlier this month, saying he was reluctant to begin long-term deliberations on the Banning Ranch development when he did not plan to seek another four-year term.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. Monday, and can be found on the city’s website.
