Police: Suspect threatened owner during car break-in
A Newport Beach resident was threatened with a knife Tuesday morning after he confronted a man trying to break into one of his cars, police said.
About 1 a.m. the resident heard a commotion coming in the 20000 block of Riverside Drive and went outside to investigate, said police spokeswoman Kathy Lowe.
There appeared to be no reported loss of items or injuries in the robbery, but the report hasn’t been finalized, Lowe said.
The suspect was described as 25 years old, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, 140 pounds and wearing tan shorts, a black sweater, a beanie and a dark-colored backpack.
