SUV hits light pole, blows out transformer
An SUV driven by an alleged drunk driver in Costa Mesa on Thursday night struck a light pole, which sheared it and also blew out a nearby transformer, police said.
Sean Sickles, 24, of Huntington Beach was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana for facial injuries and broken bones sustained when he allegedly drove a 1999 Ford Explorer into the pole near Victoria Street and Pacific Avenue about 11:08 p.m., said Costa Mesa police Sgt. Greg Scott.
Sickles was believed to have been intoxicated, Scott said.
Police said Sickles was alone in the SUV.
He was later arrested on suspicion of under the influence, according to police.
