HANNAH ELISABETH FLYNN

Hannah Elisabeth Flynn of Balboa Island, California was 86 years old when she passed away peacefully on February 16, 2012.

She was born in Los Angeles, California on October 13, 1925 to parents Gilbert and Londa Conklin, joining her older sisters, Jane and Clara. She attended Manual Arts High School where she developed life-long friendships; including her special gang of girls, the Glamorettes. She married her high school sweetheart, George Sligar in 1942. Together they raised their two daughters, Jane and Elaine often enjoying vacations on Balboa Island until his early death in 1957. She moved to Newport Beach in 1958 and began her career in Real Estate, ultimately becoming a Broker.

In 1972 she married Russell Flynn. Their life together was very full; full of family and friends, travel, the Balboa Yacht Club and sailing aboard their boat Charity. After Russ’ death in 1986, she filled her life with her family, friends and her devotion to the Friends of the Newport Beach Public Library, where she was the first bookstore manager in the new Central Library.
