Irvine man accused in strangulation death of his wife
A 39-year-old Irvine man was indicted Wednesday by an Orange County grand jury in connection with the fatal strangulation of his wife in their apartment.
Shalabh Rastogi allegedly had been having problems with his 40-year-old wife, Jalina George, before attacking her in their bedroom on May 21, according to the Orange County district attorney’s office.
Rastogi is accused of leaving his wife in a bedroom closet and calling Irvine police. He was arrested at the apartment.
The couple had three children, but they were not home at the time of the killing, the district attorney’s office said.
Rastogi was being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Friday at the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana.
