Four suspects sought after jewelry store robbery [updated]
This post has been updated with surveillance images of two of the suspects.
Costa Mesa police continued to search for suspects believed to have injured a jewelry store owner during a robbery Monday.
About four men fled in a red Jeep after robbing a jewelry store in the 1800 block of Newport Boulevard about 9:30 a.m., according to Sgt. Phil Myers.
The suspects restrained the owner and his son with zip ties after distracting another employee by requesting to have a ring cleaned, he said.
After the employee was distracted, the men jumped the counter and assaulted the owner, Myers said.
The owner was hit and kicked in the head while the son escaped uninjured, Myers said.
One of the suspects may have been armed with a pistol, although Myers said that was unconfirmed.
An undisclosed amount of money and jewelry was taken.
