Police: Man lunged at coworker with screwdriver
A Laguna Hills man was arrested June 29 after a confrontation at a Laguna Canyon business.
Eduardo Garcia Mercado, 47, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
According to Sgt. Robert Rahaeuser, police received a call at 6:23 a.m. regarding an employee in the 21000 of Laguna Canyon Road who was having a confrontation with his boss.
Mercado had reportedly threatened to kill the owner of the company that he works for, police said. During the argument, Mercado allegedly picked up a screwdriver from a toolbox and went toward another employee.
During the scuffle, Rahaeuser said, Mercado reportedly thrusted the screwdriver toward an employee and the owner disarmed him.
