Joseph H. Bray, M.D. of Laguna Beach, passed away peacefully on August 8th, 2012 while enjoying his last adventure on a road trip to The Grand Canyon. Joe was born on January 18, 1920 to Edna Rae and Curtis Arthur Bray of Fullerton, Ca. Joe graduated from Fullerton High School, The University of California at Berkeley and Northwestern School of Medicine.
Shortly after, in 1944, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth Campbell Anderson, in Chicago, Ill.
After serving in the Navy, they returned to Orange County to raise their family. He practiced medicine in Laguna Beach for over 50 years. He remained one of the last true “family doctors” who practiced the forgotten committment of house calls, which he continued to do on a regular basis until his retirement at the age of 80. He will always be remembered by those who knew him for his infectious laugh and his wonderful bedside manner.
His loving wife, Elizabeth, preceeded him in death four years ago after 64 years of marriage. He is survived and will always remain in the hearts of his four children: Joseph Curtis Bray, James Stuart Bray, Bonnie Bray Austin and Robert William Bray. He was blessed with seven grandchildren: Bryan Coday, Rebecca Bauer, Nathan Bray, Eli Bray, Julia Bonin, Joshua Austin and Zachary Austin as well as eleven great grandchildren. He created such beautiful memories with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren that he will remain a lasting example of dedication to family and profession. He will be greatly missed.
