Coast Guard rescues man on Newport-based boat
A 45-year-old man who possibly suffered a seizure and struck his head aboard a boat traveling near Point Loma was rescued, the U.S. Coast Guard said Tuesday.
The crew aboard the Amigo, a Newport Beach-based sportfishing vessel, requested help at 8:30 p.m. Monday.
The man was hoisted from the boat onto a Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter, according to Petty Officer Henry Dunphy of the guard’s office in San Diego.
The man was taken back to shore and taken to a hospital, Dunphy said.
No information was provided regarding the man’s condition.
