Court hearing for City Council candidate postponed again
A court hearing for Planning Commissioner and City Council candidate Tim Ryan has been continued to November, according to court records.
Ryan’s lawyer, Todd Landgren, said a motion he filed to challenge the sufficiency of a proper cause was continued until Nov. 8, making this the fourth time Ryan’s hearing has been postponed since May.
Landgren said Tuesday’s hearing was continued because the witnesses he needed to testify were not available.
The case is expected to be resolved by Nov. 8, he said.
Ryan, an attorney, who had raised the most funds for his campaign through June, was arrested on Jan. 28 on suspicion of drunk driving and was released on $10,000 in bail, according to court records. He pleaded not guilty.
He was driving with a 0.20 blood alcohol level, which is two and a half times the legal limit, according to the Orange County district attorney’s criminal complaint.
