One sent to hospital in crash on Newport Coast Drive
A collision between a delivery truck and a small passenger vehicle sent one person to the hospital Friday afternoon, authorities said.
About 1:47 p.m., a five-ton delivery truck and a smaller car came into full-speed contact at Newport Coast Drive and Vista Ridge Road, according to Newport Beach Fire Department Capt. Glenn White.
Newport Beach paramedics took the driver of the smaller vehicle to Mission Hospital’s trauma center in Mission Viejo in stable condition, White said.
The three occupants of the truck were not injured in the collision.
At the time of the crash, the vehicles were traveling about 40 miles per hour, White said.
The collision took place less than one-tenth of a mile from the site where 57-year-old Newport Beach physician Catherine “Kit” Campion Ritz was killed when she was struck by a full-sized truck while cycling Sept. 15.
