Orv was born in Jackson Kentucky, the 13th of 14 children of Charles and Rosetta. Raised on a farm in Minnesota, he moved to Costa Mesa in 1948, married Bea in 1953 and shortly after became a Costa Mesa policeman, (Badge #12). He quickly rose through the ranks and eventually became the Director of Communications. After retiring from the city he started an electrical contracting business and worked until March of this year.
Orv was very active in the community and was elected to the school board in ’72 and the city council in ’86. He was a tireless volunteer for numerous causes. He will be greatly missed. He is much loved by his immediate and extended family.
Orv is proceed in death by his son Rick, 8 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by brother Oscar of Murrieta, sister Lorraine of Texas, wife Bea, son Ron (Kathryn), daughter Pam (Dave) and grandchildren Robert (Betti), Charlie (Jamie), Lauren, Doug, Joe and Garrett.
Services will be held on Saturday 11/17/12
Viewing 10am-1pm at Harbor Lawn- Mt Olive Mortuary, 1625 Gisler Ave. Costa Mesa
Funeral Service at 2pm at Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, 2850 Fairview Rd. Costa Mesa
