No injuries after weekend fire
No one was injured over the weekend in an Eastside Costa Mesa fire later determined to be accidental, authorities said.
Twenty-five Costa Mesa Fire Department personnel, including four engines and two trucks, responded about 1:30 p.m. Saturday to the fire at 182 Virginia Place.
An outside fire had spread to the upper area of the one-story home’s garage. After about 20 minutes, firefighters were able to confine the fire to the garage, with limited damage to the rest of the house.
Investigators determined the cause as a heat source left too close to combustibles.
Officials estimated $17,000 in damage.
