Newport dispatcher honored

A Newport Beach dispatcher received the 2013 Dispatcher of the Year award at a banquet at the Knott’s Berry Farm Resort Hotel, police announced Friday.

The California Public Safety Radio Assn. of Southern California honored Brian Eberhardt at the Telecommunicator Awards Banquet on Thursday, according to the Newport Beach Police Department.

The department characterized Eberhardt, who has worked with the communications center for seven years, as well-respected. He has also received the department’s 2012 Dispatcher of the Year award. He works as a communications training officer.

“Brian creates a positive work environment and exemplifies our organizational values of integrity, empathy, service, excellence, responsibility and loyalty,” communications supervisor Wendy Koudelka said in a prepared statement.
