Tennis pro arrested on suspicion of lewd acts
Irvine police detectives arrested a private tennis instructor on suspicion of lewd conduct with a 13-year-old student, police announced Friday.
Jarrid Thomas Baldogo, 29, of Irvine, was booked Thursday, according to the Irvine Police Department. Detectives also served a search warrant on Baldogo’s Westpark home.
Baldogo had “inappropriate physical contact” with a 13-year-old student from February to April, police said.
Authorities were notified about the possibility of the lewd conduct after the child’s parents discovered text messages from Baldogo on their child’s phone, police said.
The child’s gender was not released.
Police do not believe there are additional victims but said Baldogo had access to children for years because of his work as a tennis instructor. He had worked for a company that provides tennis lessons in the Woodbridge area but for the past two and a half years has been finding clients online.
Police ask that anyone with information that might be helpful in the case call Det. Jonathan Sampson at (949) 724-7179.
