Police seek suspects in two thefts
Laguna Beach police are still searching for thieves who stole items from two businesses in the past two weeks.
Thieves shattered a window at European Optical at 1276 S. Coast Hwy. on May 10 and a glass door at Ganahl Lumber at 1765 Laguna Canyon Road on May 23.
In addition, 65 pairs of glasses valued at $13,000 were stolen from European Optical and $8,200 in tools and other items were taken from Ganahl Lumber, police said.
The two incidents do not appear to be related, Capt. Jason Kravetz said in an email.
Police have surveillance video of both incidents.
The European Optical video shows two suspects apparently parking behind the store before the burglary. One stayed with the car while the second man walked toward the business.
One man returned a short time later, obtained a tool and left to commit the crime, police said.
The second man wore a hoodie, which was pulled over his head before he wrapped something over his hand and punched through the window, police said.
At Ganahl Lumber, video reveals two other men — both wearing hoodies — apparently smashing the lower portion of a glass door. The two can be seen removing items from the store.
Anyone with information about either burglary should call Det. Matt Meadows at (949) 497-0758.
