Man held in theft of hospital equipment
A Los Alamitos man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of stealing surgical equipment from Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center, according to a statement from Fountain Valley police.
Roy Chi Wing Lung, 46, was booked into Orange County Jail but released after posting bond Monday, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department website.
Lung allegedly began stealing surgical equipment from the hospital May 19 and continued to do so on three other occasions, according to the statement.
On Sunday, Lung returned to the hospital wearing scrubs and a wig to disguise himself, according to the statement.
A hospital employee observed Lung and notified security officials, who contacted police. Officers stopped Lung as he was driving away and arrested him, according to the statement.
Police were able to recover a large amount of stolen property after searching his home in Los Alamitos, Lt. Ken Hounsley said. The value of the surgical equipment has yet to be tallied, he said.
