Mayor to speak at Chamber event

Costa Mesa Mayor Jim Righeimer will speak Thursday at an event sponsored by the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce.

The “Wake up! Newport” session at the Central Library, 1000 Avocado Ave., begins at 7:15 a.m. with breakfast. The program is scheduled from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. Admission is free.

Righeimer is expected to talk about Costa Mesa’s capital improvement program, its charter committee, labor negotiations between city employees and management, and the city’s economic situation.

Representatives of county, state and federal politicians are expected to attend.
