Health professions for students of color is conference topic
The new faces of medicine will be at UC Irvine Saturday.
The Latino Medical Student Assn. and the Student National Medical Assn. from the UC Irvine School of Medicine are hosting a conference to discuss the admissions process at health professions schools.
Experts from a range of disciplines will conduct seminars on the issues affecting underserved communities during the 12th annual conference, according to a news release.
“Our immediate goals are to provide resources to our conference participants in order to facilitate a successful application process and emphasize the dire need of strong and innovative leaders to serve in medically underserved communities,” the release stated
The conference will include workshops, speakers, admissions representatives and panels of experts.
The event, which is open to all undergraduate, post baccalaureate and graduate students, will be from 7:15 a.m. to 5 p.m.
