Meeting to discuss needs of 19th Street

A community meeting is scheduled for next week to gather public input on the future of West 19th Street in Costa Mesa.

The Nov. 7 meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Victoria Room of the Neighborhood Community Center, 1845 Park Ave.

City officials say their vision for 19th is to enhance its sense of community, make it more pedestrian-friendly and possibly add more streetside activity, such as outdoor cafes.

Improvements could include streetscape and landscape work, such as decorative sidewalks and crosswalks.

Next week’s meeting is the second on the topic. Concerns raised during the Sept. 4 meeting, according to city documents, included jaywalking, inadequate lighting for pedestrians and residences with driveways that open to the busy thoroughfare.

Those unable to attend next week’s meeting are urged to visit https://www.costamesaca.gov/19West or email comments to fariba.fazeli@costamesaca.gov.
