Police search for man who followed female UCI student
UC Irvine police are looking for a man who refused to leave a female student’s dormitory, repeatedly asked for a hug and may have returned later to spy on her, the department announced Friday.
Calling him a person of interest, police said the man followed the UCI student onto a shuttle and then into her campus apartment without permission.
According to a news release from the campus Police Department, the man refused to leave and took a photo while asking for a hug several times.
The man was described as white, about 5 feet 10 and 150 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes, police said.
About two weeks later, a man matching the same description was seen standing outside the student’s apartment.
He stared into her window and then stood in front of the door for five minutes, police said.
Police are asking that anyone who has seen this person in the past six months call Det. Sgt. Anthony Frisbee at (949) 824-3398.
Anyone who sees the man on campus should call UCI police at (949) 824-5223, according to the department’s announcement.
