Bruxie ready to open in Costa Mesa

A new Bruxie eatery will open Nov. 19 in Costa Mesa, according to a news release.

The restaurant, known for its sandwiches made with waffles instead of bread, will occupy a location on 17th Street at Santa Ana Avenue.

The first Bruxie opened in 2010 in Old Towne Orange. Other Southern California locations include Huntington Beach, Irvine and Chino Hills. Nothing on the menu exceeds $10; salads, shakes and sundaes are offered in addition to the sandwiches.

Bruxie’s Rancho Santa Margarita location closed Monday because of construction deficiencies and ongoing maintenance issues that forced litigation with the landlord, said Bruxie managing partner Dean Simon. Employees from that location will be offered positions at the restaurants in Irvine and Costa Mesa.

With the new opening, six Bruxie restaurants will be operating in Southern California.

The Costa Mesa outlet is at 279 E. 17th St. It will open at 8 a.m. daily, closing at 9 p.m. Sundays through Wednesdays and 10 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays.
