John Keith (Jack) Yonkers

Jack Yonkers, 76, passed away October 25, after a short illness. He was born in Grand Rapids Michigan, October 29, 1933.

Jack is survived by his 4 Children: Colleen, Keith, Karen, and Ken. His 10 grandchildren: Taylor, Amanda, Amy, Morgan, Molly, Carter, Lacy, Ryan, Bennett, & Caden.
And Siblings: Brian, Sharon, & James.

While growing up in Michigan, Jack excelled in the classroom as well on the field. He played half back on the varsity football team and starred at point guard on the varsity basketball team.

In 1955 his family moved to Pasadena. He attended Pasadena City College where he met Eloise, his wife and mother of his 4 children. Eloise predeceased Jack in 1999.

Jack had interest in serving his country and in the U.S Air Force as a career. He qualified for Officers Training School and finished top in his class. As an officer he served as a navigator with the U.S. Air Force Strategic Air Command on the B52 Bomber and KC135 re-fueler aircrafts. His service took him throughout the world including Germany, Guam and Japan where his oldest daughter Colleen was born. He retired as a Major after 20 years of service with distinction. He also served as the U.S. Air Force Academy Liaison here in Southern California.

After his military career he moved his family to Newport Beach in 1969 and began his real estate career. He worked in various capacities in real estate including sales, teaching, managing, and for the Donald Bren Company.

Jack will be remembered as a loving father, husband, and grandfather and one that thoroughly enjoyed attending the sporting events of his grand children.

Services will be held at Our Lady Queen of Angels church in Newport Beach on Thursday, November 4, at 1:00 pm
