Earthquake: 2.5 quake strikes near Costa Mesa
A shallow magnitude 2.5 earthquake was reported Tuesday afternoon one mile from Costa Mesa, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 1:39 p.m. PDT at a depth of 3.1 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was three miles from Newport Beach, Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach, and 337 miles from Phoenix.
In the last 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
