Patriots Day Parade canceled
The 48th annual Laguna Beach Patriots Day Parade scheduled for Saturday has been canceled due to the forecast of heavy rain, parade President Ed Hanke wrote in an email Friday morning.
The parade committee is notifying groups by email and posting the news on its website at https://www.lagunabeachparade.org.
The last time the parade was canceled was in 1985 when, in the pre-dawn hours after an all-night downpour, then-President Hal Werthe decided not to hold the event, according to the parade website.
It was not immediately known Friday morning whether the parade would move to a different day this year or wait until next year.
