Boy with brain tumor dies
William Aiden McMurray, who would have been a Thurston Middle School student, has died, according to a Facebook page dedicated to him.
“It is with great sadness that I write this. .... Our wonderful, beautiful, strong boy passed yesterday afternoon,” Sabrina McMurray, William’s mother, wrote Aug. 8 on the page. “In one breath, Michael’s (William’s father) and my life have changed forever.”
The 12-year-old, who had a brain tumor, was home with his parents when he died Aug. 7, Sabrina wrote in an email.
The public is welcome to a service honoring William at 4 p.m. Friday at Aliso Creek Inn, 31106 S. Coast Hwy., the Facebook page said.
There will also be a paddle out at 10 a.m. Friday from Thalia Street Beach, and his ashes will be dispersed, Sabrina said.
Sabrina and Michael own the Penguin Cafe at 981 S. Coast Hwy., in Laguna Beach. Well-wishers have placed flowers and stuffed animals outside the front door.
“The community has already rallied around to help and we are once again overwhelmed by the love, generosity and support,” Sabrina said.
“We offer our deepest condolences and wish the family peace in dealing with this terrible loss,” the Woman’s Club of Laguna Beach wrote on William’s Facebook page.
