CdM’s Hodson makes U.S. Girls’ Youth National Volleyball Team

Hayley Hodson, a standout freshman at Corona del Mar High, made the U.S. Girls’ Youth National Volleyball team, which will compete at the NORCECA Youth Under-18 Continental Championships in the Dominican Republic from June 24 to July 2.

Hodson earned one of the 12 spots on the team after a recent tryout at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. The upcoming tournament is the qualifier for the 2013 FIVB Volleyball Girls’ Youth World Championship.

Hodson, an outside hitter, helped the Sea Kings reach the CIF Southern Section Division 1-A title match in November. She received Daily Pilot Newport-Mesa Dream Team, fifth-team All-Orange County and second-team All-Pacific Coast League honors.
