Knapp, the Orange Coast League champion, was 87th, finishing at four-over 76.

Moorhead, the Pacific Coast League champion, had six birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey.

“It was a little rough out there,” Moorhead said. “I knew the course a little bettter. I started off a bit rusty, got a few bogeys. But I caught fire and got some birdies.”

Jake Katz of Westlake birdied the third playoff hole to win the CIF/SCGA championship Thursday in Murrieta and advance to the state championships June 8 at Santa Maria Country Club.

Katz shot a 7-under 65 to tie with Mark Jensma of Aliso Niguel and Andrew Levitt of Santa Margarita before winning in a playoff.

Torrey Pines edged Servite by a single stroke for the team title. Those two teams, along with Santa Barbara, advance to the state championships.
