Breakdown: Corona del Mar (8-0, 3-0 in Sunset League) squares off against Newport Harbor (7-1, 2-1) in the 58th annual Battle of the Bay rivalry game at Davidson Field … Newport Harbor, the designated home team in Friday’s clash, leads the overall series 38-19, but CdM has won six straight Battle of the Bay games … The Sea Kings, who are the top-ranked team in CIF Southern Section Division 3, expect their vaunted passing attack to be at full strength against their rival. Offensive coordiator Kevin Hettig said that Humphreys and senior receiver Simon Hall, who each sat out last week’s 42-7 win over Fountain Valley for precautionary reasons, are both expected to play against Newport Harbor ... Hettig said that Hall, who had four catches for 160 yards and a touchdown in Week Zero against Downey and sprained his ankle the following week at Mountain View St. Francis, is finally starting to look like he’s at full strength or close to it ... Newport Harbor dropped two spots to No. 4 in the Division 9 poll after last week’s 44-3 loss to Los Alamitos ... The Sailors enter Friday in a three-way tie for second place in the league with Los Alamitos and Edison ... CdM beat Newport Harbor 62-14 last year behind seven touchdown passes from Garbers ... Newport Beach Mayor Pro Tem Will O’Neill will handle the pregame coin toss.
