The Corona del Mar High girls’ tennis team has earned the top seed for the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs, the Sea Kings found out Monday when the brackets were revealed.

The Sea Kings are one of five local teams in the postseason. Huntington Beach made it in Division 1, Sage Hill and Laguna Beach in Division 2, and Costa Mesa in Division 4.

CdM (14-5) was the No. 8-ranked team in Division 1 for much of the season, suggesting that the Sea Kings could qualify for the eight-team Open Division. However, the Sea Kings dropped to No. 9 in Division 1 in the final poll, meaning they rose to the top seed in Division 1 once the top eight teams moved up to the Open Division.

CdM, the Surf League champion which won the Division 1 title in 2017, has a first-round bye. The Sea Kings host either Oak Park or Santa Barbara in a Division 1 second-round match Friday at 2 p.m.

Surf League singles champions Hannah Jervis and doubles champions Reece Kenerson and Jane Paulsen lead the Sea Kings.

Arcadia, Camarillo and Santa Margarita round out the top four seeds in Division 1.

The other local team to advance to the Division 1 postseason was Wave League champion Huntington Beach (16-4). The Oilers, who won the Division 3 title last year, host Westlake Village Oaks Christian (5-8) in a first-round match Wednesday at 2 p.m. Oaks Christian was the third-place finisher in the Marmonte League.

Wave League singles champion Kaytlin Taylor leads Huntington Beach.

In Division 2, San Joaquin League champion Sage Hill (13-6) hosts Surf League runner-up Los Alamitos (11-5) in the first round Wednesday at 3 p.m. Also, Wave League runner-up Laguna Beach (8-8) plays at Moore League runner-up Long Beach Wilson (16-2) in the first round at 2 p.m.

Costa Mesa (9-7), the Orange Coast League champion, will host the winner of San Dimas and Paramount in a Division 4 first-round match Wednesday.
