College Roundup: Golden West women’s volleyball sweeps Santiago Canyon

Madison Holmes had 10 kills and 12 digs to lead the Golden West College women’s volleyball team to a 25-14, 25-15, 25-14 victory on Wednesday night at home in an Orange Empire Conference finale.

Jennifer Juarez had nine kills, Sierra Emil added eight kills, and Amanda Lorah chipped in with seven kills for the Rustlers (14-8, 8-8 in conference), who placed fifth in the conference. Shayna Johnson distributed 35 assists to go with five service aces.

Cypress 3, Orange Coast 1: The Pirates concluded the regular season with a 16-25, 25-15, 25-20, 25-20 Orange Empire Conference loss Wednesday night on the road.

Orange Coast finished 18-6 overall and 11-5 in the conference to tie for second place with Cypress and Fullerton.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Cuyamaca 105, Golden West 91: The visiting Rustlers fell to 0-6 overall with Wednesday’s loss.

Golden West will travel to take on Long Beach City College on Friday at 6 p.m.
