High School Roundup: Estancia boys’ basketball reaches Los Amigos Winter Classic title game

Brandon Pearson finished with 20 points, and the Estancia High boys’ basketball team defeated Pacifica 55-51 on Friday night in a semifinal game at the Los Amigos Winter Classic.

The Eagles (8-1) will play St. Margaret’s in the championship game on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Jake Covey scored nine points, and Ben Sparks added eight points for Estancia.

Corona del Mar 62, Los Angeles Fremont 48: Jack Stone had 28 points to lead the Sea Kings in Friday’s semifinal game at the Artesia Winter Classic.

Matt DeCrona added 10 points for CdM (3-1). Jack McKenna had eight points, and Vanis Buckholz and Asher Hamilton each contributed seven points.

Newport Harbor 61, Edison 44: Robbie Spooner scored 26 points for the Sailors on Friday in a Grizzly Invitational game at Godinez High.

Newport Harbor improved to 6-2, while Edison dropped to 3-2.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Corona del Mar 6, Rolling Hills Estates Peninsula 0: Megan Chelf set a single-match school record with five goals in the Sea Kings’ Back Bay Invitational contest on Friday at Newport Harbor High.

Erin Jones had a goal and an assist for CdM (2-0).

The Sea Kings will face Oak Park at Estancia High at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Newport Harbor 2, Oak Park 0: Skylynn Rodriguez scored twice for the host Sailors on Friday in a Back Bay Invitational match.

Newport Harbor (2-0) plays at home against La Cañada Flintridge Sacred Heart on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Laguna Beach 18, Studio City Harvard-Westlake 10: Rachael Carver, Jessie Rose and Nicole Struss each recorded a hat trick for the visiting Breakers in Friday’s nonleague game.

Laguna Beach improved to 2-0.

Santa Barbara San Marcos 12, Corona del Mar 6: Grace Myers had four goals and two assists for the Sea Kings in Friday’s nonleague game at Goleta Dos Pueblos High.

Kate Rodman had two goals and an assist, and Maya Avital recorded seven saves for CdM (1-1).

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Edison 48, Trabuco Hills 39: Brooklyn Chang had 10 points to lead the Chargers in Friday’s Ultimate Flight game of the Hawk Holiday Classic at Portola High.

Gwen Ontiveros added nine points for Edison (4-4). Madison Copeland had eight points.

St. Margaret’s 41, Pacifica Christian Orange County 22: Charis Wondercheck and Rebecca Penjoyan each scored eight points for the visiting Tritons in Friday’s nonleague game.

Pacifica Christian fell to 1-3.

Paramount 48, Fountain Valley 31: Margaret Tengan had eight points for the Barons on Friday in a Norwalk Tournament game.

Fountain Valley dropped to 2-4.
