College Roundup: Vanguard men’s basketball beats Thompson Rivers

Isaiah Gentry had 15 points and seven rebounds for the Vanguard University men’s basketball team in Wednesday’s 71-63 home win over Thompson Rivers of British Columbia, Canada, in a Bill Reynolds Holiday Classic game.

Phillip Willis and Christian Wilson each chipped in 11 points for the Lions (8-6), who host the University of Northern British Columbia on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Santiago Canyon 116, Orange Coast 48: Max Hazely had 12 points for the Pirates in their Orange Empire Conference opener Wednesday on the road.

Aundrel Pua scored 10 points for Orange Coast (2-9, 0-1 in conference).

Santiago Canyon improved to 13-0 overall.

Riverside 90, Golden West 77: Ricky Briseno and Christian Anderson each scored 19 points for the Rustlers in their Orange Empire Conference opener on the road Wednesday.

John Stillgess had 16 points for Golden West (2-10, 0-1 in conference).

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Cerritos 61, Golden West 53: Jackie Navarro had 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Rustlers in Wednesday’s nonconference road game.

Reyna McMorris scored 11 points for Golden West (0-7).
