College Roundup: UC Irvine men’s basketball tops Pacific at home

Collin Welp had 17 points and eight rebounds to lead the UC Irvine men’s basketball team to a 69-56 win over the University of the Pacific on Saturday night in a nonconference game at the Bren Events Center.

Welp made four of his five three-point attempts for the Anteaters (8-7), who snapped a two-game losing streak.

Tommy Rutherford scored 10 points, and Brad Greene added eight points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots.

Eyassu Worku provided nine points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals. Evan Leonard also finished with nine points.

Orange Coast 79, Ohlone 78: Jonathan Ileleji scored a game-high 23 points for the Pirates in Saturday’s game of the Canyons Tournament.

Andres Ortega had 16 points, nine rebounds and five assists, and Myles Woods scored 16 points to go with six rebounds and four assists.

Aundrel Pua also had 14 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and four steals for Orange Coast (4-10).

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Oxnard 76, Orange Coast 52: Anna Hollister had a team-high 18 points for the Pirates (1-10) on Saturday in an East Los Angeles College Tournament game.

Violet Cisneros added 15 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and three steals. Lea Adame also contributed nine points, eight rebounds and three blocks.
