High School Roundup: Estancia boys’ basketball finishes perfect Orange Coast League campaign

Jake Covey had 18 points, and the Estancia High boys’ basketball team capped an undefeated Orange Coast League championship with a 72-41 win at home over rival Costa Mesa on Wednesday night.

Cameron Khoury had 15 points and five three-pointers for the Eagles (25-3, 10-0 in league), who had already clinched their first league title since the 2004-05 season.

Christian Dasca and Joe Paxson each scored eight points for Costa Mesa (9-19, 4-6), which finished fourth in the league.

Laguna Beach 51, Huntington Beach 30: Lucas Kravitz scored 19 points for the undefeated Wave League champion Breakers in a regular-season finale on the road Wednesday.

Chase Hall added 17 points for Laguna Beach (20-7, 6-0 in league).

Huntington Beach finished 6-21 overall and 1-5 in league play.

Pacifica Christian Orange County 72, Saddleback Valley Christian 49: Elijah Paschal had 23 points and six three-pointers as the Tritons clinched at least a share of the San Joaquin League title Wednesday at home.

Judah Brown had 14 points and nine rebounds for Pacifica Christian (19-7, 7-1 in league), which is tied with Fairmont Prep with one game remaining.

Pacifica Christian finishes league with a game at Saddleback Valley Christian on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Fountain Valley 66, Marina 64: Jeremiah Davis had 22 points and eight rebounds for the host Barons in their Wave League finale Wednesday.

Aden Casarez added 18 points on six three-pointers for Fountain Valley (16-8, 4-2 in league), which finished second in the league. Preston Amarillo had nine points and nine rebounds.

Marina (10-18, 1-5) finished tied for third place in the league.

Los Alamitos 70, Corona del Mar 51: Jack Stone had 14 points for the host Sea Kings in Wednesday’s Surf League finale.

Jack McKenna added eight points for CdM (16-11, 1-5 in league), which finished fourth in the four-team league.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Los Alamitos 2, Corona del Mar 1 (OT): The host Sea Kings suffered their third straight loss on Wednesday in a Surf League finale at Bonita Creek Park.

Los Alamitos (8-6-5, 3-3 in league) moved into a tie with CdM (10-7, 3-3) for second place in the league. The second-place tiebreaker match will be played at the neutral site of Huntington Beach High at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Fountain Valley 3, Marina 2: The host Barons completed an undefeated run through the Wave League on Wednesday with their fifth consecutive win.

Fountain Valley improved to 9-6-3 overall and 5-0-1 in the league. The Wave League champion Barons will await their draw when the CIF Southern Section releases the Division 1 brackets on Saturday.

Marina finished the season at 7-11-3 overall and 1-5 in league play.

Godinez 2, Ocean View 0: Steven Osuna and Josue Martinez scored for the host Grizzlies on Wednesday in a Golden West League match.

Ocean View (5-11-8, 2-3-5 in league) finished in fourth place in the league.

Huntington Beach 2, Laguna Beach 1: The host Oilers earned their fourth win in their last five matches on Wednesday in a Wave League match.

Huntington Beach (9-7-4, 4-1-1 in league) finished in second place in the league.

Laguna Beach (6-11-2, 1-5) ended its season in a tie for third place with Marina.

Los Amigos 6, Bolsa Grande 1: Derrick Villegas, Pedro Leyva, Jose Felipe, Jonathan Alarcon, Andy Millan and Anthony Gutierrez each scored a goal for the host Lobos on Wednesday in a Garden Grove League match.

Los Amigos (9-3-5, 6-2-2 in league) finished in third place in the league.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Costa Mesa 45, Estancia 36: Tarah Harmon had 24 points to lead the visiting Mustangs to a sweep of the Battle for the Bell rivalry on Wednesday in an Orange Coast League game.

Costa Mesa clinched third place in the league, as Calvary Chapel defeated Orange 51-20 in the teams’ league finale. The Mustangs (7-15, 5-5 in league) and Panthers (8-15, 4-6) had entered the day tied for third place.

Roselynn Madriaga had eight points for the Mustangs, and Amy Martinez added seven points.
