High School Roundup: Edison boys’ golf edges St. Margaret’s

Tiger Tahvildari was the co-medalist, shooting an even-par 35 in the Edison High boys’ golf team’s 189-193 win over St. Margaret’s in Wednesday’s nonleague match at Talega Golf Club.

Edison ran its record to 2-0 on the season.

Ocean View 199, Katella 227: Nathan Santy was the medalist with a three-over-par 34 on Wednesday in a nonleague match at David L. Baker Golf Course.

Ocean View is now 2-0 overall.

Estancia 219, Laguna Beach 220: The visiting Eagles improved to 3-0 with Wednesday’s nonleague victory at Aliso Viejo Golf Club.

Mater Dei 182, Huntington Beach 188: The host Oilers dropped Wednesday’s nonleague match at SeaCliff Country Club.

Huntington Beach is now 1-1.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Corona del Mar 3, Fountain Valley 0: The Sea Kings notched a 25-18, 25-17, 25-18 sweep on Wednesday in a Sunset Conference crossover match on the road.

CdM improved to 7-1 overall.

BASEBALL

Los Alamitos 7, Newport Harbor 1: Kaden Stowell scored the lone run for the visiting Sailors in Wednesday’s Sunset Conference crossover game.

Newport Harbor (2-5-1) plays at Kennedy in a nonleague doubleheader Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Fountain Valley 13, Valencia 5: Ben Nguyen swept in singles for the Barons in Wednesday’s nonleague home match.

Kai Rodriguez and Nathan Dang swept in doubles for Fountain Valley (5-0), which hosts Irvine on Thursday.

BOYS’ SWIMMING

Huntington Beach 90.5, Woodbridge 79.5: The Oilers triumphed in their season opener Wednesday at home.

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

Huntington Beach 87, Woodbridge 84: The host Oilers won a close meet in their season opener Wednesday.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Northwood 11, Huntington Beach 5: The visiting Oilers dropped to 1-2 overall following Wednesday’s nonleague match.
