Pacifica Christian Orange County adds girls’ tennis
Pacifica Christian Orange County High will add girls’ tennis as a sport in the fall, the Newport Beach-based school announced.
Pacifica Christian is working to obtain a home facility for the 2020 season, as well as a head coach for the program.
“We are excited to establish ourselves as one of the premier tennis programs in Orange County,” Pacifica Christian assistant athletic director Jeff Berokoff said in a statement. “A group of girls at our school founded a tennis club two years ago and it has grown to where the demand is high for girls’ tennis on our campus.”
Newport Beach has traditionally been a strong area for girls’ tennis. Corona del Mar has won two CIF championships in three years, and Sage Hill in Newport Coast has won five straight league titles.
Pacifica Christian, finishing its fourth year competing at the varsity level, now offers 21 programs across 11 different sports.
