High School Roundup: CdM boys’ soccer strikes late to beat Laguna Beach
Will Little broke a scoreless tie in the late stages of regulation, leading the Corona del Mar High School boys’ soccer team to a 1-0 win over Laguna Beach on Wednesday.
The Sea Kings improved to 2-5-3 overall following the Sunset Conference crossover match.
Up next for CdM is a pair of road tilts against Edison and Fountain Valley next week.
Laguna Beach fell to 2-4-1 with the loss.
BOYS’ GOLF
Edison 181, St. Margaret’s 192: Ben Crinella shot a three-under-par 32 to lead the Chargers in a nonleague match on Wednesday at Meadowlark Golf Club.
Edison upped its record to 6-2 on the season.
SOFTBALL
Marina 11, Westminster 0: Makayla Mathis and Anaya Togia combined to throw a one-hit shutout for the Vikings on Wednesday in a nonleague game on the road.
Marina has won five in a row. The Vikings (6-1) play host to Fountain Valley in a Sunset Conference crossover game on Monday.
BOYS’ TENNIS
Corona del Mar 18, Marina 0: Niels Hoffmann, Max Krykunenko and Jack Cross all swept in singles for the Corona del Mar High School boys’ tennis team on Wednesday in a Sunset Conference crossover match at Marina High School.
Jack Knox and Jonathan Hinkel swept at No. 1 doubles for undefeated CdM (8-0).
Marina, which plays at Fountain Valley on Tuesday, dropped to 4-2.
The Sea Kings host Huntington Beach on April 19.
