The Costa Mesa High School girls’ golf team completed a sweep of the season series with rival Estancia, defeating the Eagles 281-298 on Wednesday in an Orange Coast League match at Costa Mesa Country Club.

Sydney Ngo was the medalist for the Mustangs (7-2 overall and in league), carding a three-over-par 38 on the Mesa Linda Course.

Grace Wilborn (53), Jayde Rubright (59), Ava Rice (65) and Izzy Flores (66) made up the rest of the scoring quintet for Costa Mesa, which competes against Calvary Chapel at Willowick Golf Course on Monday.

When the Battle for the Bell rivals had their first meeting of the season on Sept. 7, Costa Mesa narrowly beat Estancia 285-293.

The Eagles dropped to 5-5 overall and 4-4 in league. Estancia will play host to Orange on Tuesday.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Newport Harbor 3, Los Alamitos 1: Quinn Perry had 12 kills to lead the host Sailors to a 21-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-20 win on Wednesday in a Sunset Conference crossover match.

Malia Thorne had 10 kills, Emma Fults added seven kills, and Anabel Kotzakov chipped in with six kills for Newport Harbor, which earned its first win over Los Alamitos since a five-set victory on Oct. 1, 2014.

The Sailors (16-6) remain at home to face Marina in a Wave League match on Tuesday night.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Newport Harbor 13, Laguna Beach 3: Peter Castillo, Gage Verdegaal, Mason Hunt and Ben Liechty all scored twice for the Sailors in Wednesday’s Surf League match at Corona del Mar High.

Newport Harbor, which is tied for the top ranking in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 poll, improved to 11-1 overall and 2-0 in league. The Sailors play at rival Studio City Harvard-Westlake on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Sai Bassett, Will Kelly and Holden Seybold each scored a goal for Laguna Beach (8-7, 0-2), ranked No. 7 in Division 1. The Breakers host Riverside King on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Edison 15, Fountain Valley 5: Senior Zach Van Gemert had a game-high five goals for the Chargers in Wednesday’s Wave League match at CdM.

Senior goalkeeper Bobby Johnson made 15 saves for Edison (9-5, 2-0 in league), ranked No. 3 in CIF Southern Section Division 2.

Fountain Valley, ranked No. 9 in Division 5, fell to 8-5 overall and 0-2 in league.
