Kai Gillies had a team-high 14 points to lead the Laguna Beach High School boys’ basketball team to a 33-30 win over Redondo Union in the CdM Beach Bash consolation bracket on Wednesday.

Kanoa Panganiban had nine points, and Max Burchi scored eight points for Laguna Beach (5-3).

Estancia 57, Godinez 31: Lewis Tate scored 21 points to lead the Eagles in Wednesday’s nonleague game at Estancia High.

Reef Johnson added 19 points for the Eagles (6-4). Jaedon Hose-Shea dished out 11 assists.

Estancia plays at Savanna on Friday.

Mater Dei 66, Edison 54: The Chargers led as late as the third quarter, but Mater Dei rallied for the win in the CdM Beach Bash tournament quarterfinal game Wednesday at CdM.

Trey Wilborn scored 16 points for Edison (5-3), while Tyler Hampton scored 13 and Quinn Delaney put in 11 points.

Etiwanda 55, Pacifica Christian Orange County 44: Dylan Godfrey scored 13 points for the Tritons in Wednesday’s CdM Beach Bash tournament quarterfinal game.

Salim Semaan added 12 points for Pacifica Christian (3-2).

Newport Harbor 56, Whittier 36: Josh Wooden and Jake Read each scored 10 points for the Sailors in Wednesday’s CdM Beach Bash consolation game.

Newport Harbor improved to 6-4.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Newport Harbor 1, Laguna Hills 0: The host Sailors bounced back from Monday’s loss to Aliso Niguel to claim a nonleague win on Wednesday over the Hawks.

Nate Simmons scored for Newport Harbor, which improved to 3-1-1 on the season.

Santa Ana Valley 3, Edison 2: Gifford Price and Ethan Emerson scored goals for the Chargers on Wednesday in a nonleague match on the road.

Santa Margarita 5, Estancia 0: Estancia (0-4) was held off the scoresheet for the first time this season on Wednesday in a nonleague game at home.

Tesoro 2, Laguna Beach 0: The host Breakers had their three-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday in a nonleague match.

Laguna Beach (3-3) remains home to face Ocean View (0-5) on Friday.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Garden Grove Santiago 38, Corona del Mar 31: The Sea Kings fell to 1-5 overall following Wednesday’s nonleague defeat on the road.

Tustin 45, Marina 21: The visiting Vikings dropped to 4-5 overall on Wednesday with a nonleague loss to the Tillers.
