The Newport Harbor High School boys’ basketball team extended its winning streak to six games with a 70-64 win over Marina in double overtime on Wednesday in a Sunset Conference crossover game at home.

Riggs Guy and Isaac Davis had 17 points apiece for Newport Harbor (14-5).

Marina (13-5) had a three-game winning streak come to an end. Robert Aguirre had a team-high 19 points for the Vikings. Bohdi Armstrong had 13 points and Michael Carabine added 12 points.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Huntington Beach 3, Corona del Mar 1: The host Oilers got goals from Grant James, Tyler Kakimoto and Teddy Melitas to win Wednesday’s Sunset Conference crossover match.

Huntington Beach improved to 9-2-3 overall.

Eduardo Hopkin scored a goal assisted by Calvin Fochler for CdM (5-2). Matt Wood made three saves.

Saddleback 3, Costa Mesa 0: The Mustangs were shut out in an Orange Coast League opener Wednesday on the road.

Costa Mesa dropped to 3-8-4 overall.

Newport Harbor 5, Edison 1: The Sailors produced their highest scoring output of the season to defeat the Chargers Wednesday in a Sunset Conference crossover match at home.

Newport Harbor improved to 5-2-1 this season, while Edison fell to 3-5-3.

Estancia 2, Orange 0: The Eagles picked a good time to earn their first win of the season, doing so in Wednesday’s Orange Coast League opener at home.

Kevin Flores and Felix Solis scored goals for Estancia (1-9-1). Cruz Valdovinos and Richard Cervantes drew the assists, and Cesar Pedroza stopped a penalty kick in the second half.

Loara 3, Los Amigos 2: Anthony Gutierrez and Allan Marquina each scored a goal for the visiting Lobos on Wednesday in a Garden Grove League opener.

Los Amigos is now 4-3 overall.

Marina 2, Fountain Valley 1: Damiond Mendoza scored the game-winning goal for the Vikings on Wednesday in a Sunset Conference crossover match at home.

Joseph Ingrao also scored a goal for Marina (2-7-2).

Fountain Valley fell to 2-4-2 on the season.

Katella 4, Ocean View 0: The Seahawks were held off the scoresheet for the third consecutive game, dropping to 0-10-1 overall following Wednesday’s Golden West League opener on the road.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Los Amigos 6, Loara 1: The Lobos scored a season-high six goals to propel themselves to victory in a Garden Grove League opener at home on Wednesday.

Los Amigos moved its record to 5-3 overall.

WRESTLING

Corona del Mar 78, Huntington Beach 6: The Sea Kings improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in Wave League dual meets following Wednesday’s win on the road.

Luke Miller (106 pounds), Angelo Gonzalez (120), Adin Gallegos (170), Anthony Gonzalez (182), Reid Butler (220) and Tony Leon won their matches by pin for CdM.

Corona del Mar is scheduled to host Laguna Beach on Jan. 12, when the Sea Kings will look to clinch the outright league title.

Los Alamitos 54, Marina 27: The host Vikings fell to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the Surf League with Wednesday’s defeat.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Fountain Valley 14, Santa Fe 8: The visiting Barons ran their record to 10-3 overall with a nonleague win on Wednesday.
